Division Accomplishments/Recognition

  • The Outstanding Volunteer award honors a current Division member who provided exemplary volunteer work to the Division in the current year. The 2021-2022 recipient is Gabriela John Swamy.
  • The Outstanding Service award honors current Division members who have demonstrated a history of service to the Division or field. The 2021-2022 recipient is K. Muthukumarappan.

  • First: Daniela Moore, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona: The effect of using coconut oil (Cocos nucifera), avocado paste (Persea americana), and pistachio (Pistacia vera) in the elaboration of a chocolate plant-based ice cream
  • Second: Tharindu Trishan Dapana Durage, Louisiana State University: A Combination of Xanthan Gum and L-Arginine Solutions as a Potential Phosphate Substitute in Frozen White Shrimp (Penaeus Vannamei)
  • Third: Hope Eseose, Louisiana State University: Viability of Ultraviolet C radiation (UV-C) exposed Listeria innocua NRRL B-33016 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 on strawberries (Fragaria x ananassa) During Refrigeration Storage.
  • Finalist: Chenxi Guo, University of California, Davis: Insight of the microbial communities present in dark leafy green juices during refrigerated storage
  • Finalist: Estefany Rengifo, National University of the Peruvian Amazon: Low-sodium freshwater fish burgers enriched with microencapsulated EPA and DHA
